    This pork pattie recipe is great if you need a good allrounder! What I mean by that is, this recipe can be used for breakfast, lunch, dinner or even a snack!

    This is a wonderful breakfast patty! If you and your children love a McDonalds sausage muffin, this could be a delicious alternative for you! Not only that it’s a healthy option too! This would be great as a burger too, in place of beef or chicken you could choose a pork burger instead. I love it when a recipe is simple yet so delicious, I love that all you need is the meat and everything else you could quite possibly have in your store cupboard!

    This is also a great way to introduce meat to your baby as part of baby led weaning, you could leave out the herbs and cook the patty with just the meat if you wanted to!

    Ingredient information

    Pork mince - I love how pork mince is inexpensive and here you can get at least 10 patties made! Bonus!

    Sage - I have said it before I love sage, and love the fact dried sage is just as delicious as the fresh sage!

    Thyme - Another favourite! Great to have in the store cupboard!

    Nutmeg - A tiny pinch of nutmeg adds a little kick of earthy richness.

    Black pepper - I have seasoned with black pepper and no salt!

    Olive oil - I have used olive oil, you can use unsalted butter or some vegetable oil if you wish!

    Serving suggestion

    The patties taste very much like a Cumberland sausage, therefore these would be perfect as a breakfast patty! Try adding to a muffin with some cheese or add them as part of a main meal with potato smiles and roasted carrots! They can be used for all mealtimes which I love! I like how versatile this recipe is, especially if you make them for the freezer you will have a meal ready from the freezer.

    Storage instructions

    If you are batch cooking these patties to store in the fridge or freezer, make sure that when cooked they have cooled fully before packing them into your airtight containers or freezer bags. They will keep up to 3 days in the fridge and up to 3 months in the freezer if stored correctly.

    I find it easier to label the airtight container with masking tape and the freezer bag using a pen to write the item, and date.

    To defrost the patties you will need to store in the fridge overnight in an airtight container to thaw, once thawed you can now reheat.

    To reheat the patties, Pre heat your oven to 180C/350F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper and re heat the patties for 10-15 minutes until heated through.

    Once thawed and reheated you will not be able to defrost or reheat

    Equipment Used To Help With This Recipe

    Mixing bowl - I like to use a stainless steel mixing bowl - they are usually lightweight and easy to clean.

    Frying pan - I love the non-stick surface of this particular frying pan and it’s suitable for all types of hob.

    Airtight container - I much prefer the click-shut lids on these containers compared to others. They are also dishwasher and freezer safe and BPA free, so very suitable for food use.

    Ingredients

    Makes 10 patties

    • 500g pork mince

    • 1 teaspoon dried sage

    • 1 teaspoon dried thyme

    • Pinch nutmeg

    • Black pepper

    • 2-4 tablespoons Olive oil

    Instructions

    • Start by popping all of the mince in a large mixing bowl, add the herbs and spices and mix together with your hands.

    • Split into 10 equal pieces and roll those pieces into balls.

    • Heat 2 tablespoons of the olive oil in a large frying pan.

    • Pop 4 of the balls in the frying pan and using a spatula, push down each ball.

    • Cook for 4 minutes each side in the frying pan.

    • Repeat until all 10 are cooked.

    If you decided you didn’t want to add in any spices or herbs you could leave these out and just include the pork and some black pepper!
