    Can Babies Eat Pancakes?

Yes! A great finger food recipe that uses simple ingredients, they is great as a perfect first food for baby, as the pancakes are such a soft texture. They can be for the older kids too! Not just for baby-led weaning, a recipe for the entire family.

I love this recipe, as you have pancakes ready to make whenever you want them!

Imagine, waking up on one of those busy mornings and you are wondering what you can give your little one’s in the morning that isn’t their usual breakfast, cue pre prepared pancakes! These baby led weaning friendly pancakes are a great way to mix things up in the mornings, that doesn’t cost too much time.

I will say that I have made these pancakes extra large, as I have used extra deep ice cube trays.

If you wanted to make smaller pancakes all you will need to do is get a couple of smaller in depth ice cube trays and fill as per the recipe details.

The smaller pancakes can cook in half the time if this suits you better! We just love large pancakes in our home!

I also love the fact these baby food pancakes are delicious without any added sugar or syrups. The small amount of fruit sweetens the mix up nicely, especially the blueberries they work particularly well.

This is such an easy recipe (with no added sugars) to have in your bank of recipes when you want to have a go at a pancake recipe that you can batch and store in your freezer ready to cook from frozen!

How To Serve Pancakes From 6 Months Old?

To serve these easy pancakes to a 6-month-old, ensure they are completely cool to avoid any risk of burning the baby's mouth. Cut the pancakes into strips to prevent choking hazards. You can serve them plain or with a small amount of fruit or plain Greek yogurt for added flavour and texture.

Make sure the healthy pancakes are soft and easy to chew, as babies at this age are still developing their chewing abilities. Always supervise the baby closely while they are eating to prevent any accidents.

Enjoy watching your little one explore new tastes and textures in a safe and controlled manner. This is a recipe for the whole family, not just for your baby.

    Ingredient information

Plain flour - I have used plain flour as I find this is best for this recipe. I didn’t want too much of a rise. You could use oat flour (blitzed oats) instead if you prefer, or even almond flour.

Free range egg - I use free range eggs within my recipes.

Unsalted butter - I have used butter as flavour, to make the baby pancake recipe dairy free you could use olive oil or coconut oil as an alternative.

Whole milk - I have used whole milk as my son is under 2, but you can use skimmed, semi skimmed or even a plant based milk.

Baking powder - I have used a touch of baking powder so that the pancakes are not ‘as flat as pancakes’.

Cinnamon - This is optional but we love cinnamon in our pancakes.

Blueberries - I find blueberries in pancakes are so delicious, so I had to incorporate into these. My son loves them to do it was a no brainer.

Strawberries - Another one of my son’s favourites. So I had to include and like the blueberries work so well with pancakes.
