Can You Give Curry To Baby
It is generally recommended to introduce curry to babies around 6 months of age. At this stage, babies are typically transitioning to solid foods and have had exposure to a variety of single-ingredient fruits and vegetables. It is a great curry recipe for kids.

Ingredient information
Greek yogurt - I have used a plain Greek yogurt, a natural plain yogurt will work well to, any plain yogurt that you have. This is very good to tenderise the meat for the baby curry, so the longer you marinade the better.
Tomato puree - This is great to add a tomato flavour to the curry that is what a Balti is all about.
Ginger and garlic - I have used a ginger and garlic paste for convenience, you could use fresh garlic and ginger if you have it. You could need 2 thumb sized pieces of ginger and 2 cloves of garlic to cover the whole recipe.
Onion granules - I find the onion granules are great for flavour in a marinade. You could leave this step out f you did not have any.
Cumin - A mild flavour that is great for a curry or a chilli recipe.
Coriander - This is a fragrant spice that is great for curries and stews. You could use fresh coriander if you have it, you could use the stalks too for added flavour.
Turmeric - I have added a little turmeric to the marinade and the curry sauce as this brings a depth of flavour.
Lemon - Along with the yogurt this is great to tenderise the meat.
Onion - I have used 1 large onion, but you could use a red onion if you have it.
Tomatoes - I have used plum tomatoes as I think the flavour is better, but you could use chopped tinned tomatoes too.
Garam masala - This is a great spice for curries for flavour. A little goes a long way.
Olive oil - I have used olive oil but you could use an avocado oil or unsalted butter.
Lamb - I have used diced lamb which is great for this recipe, as it is already into small pieces. You could use lamb chops too, which are a great option for baby led weaning finger food.
Serving suggestion
The baby food recipe is great served with white rice or brown rice or a homemade naan bread would be good too.
Try serving the baby curry recipe on its own with a little plain Greek yogurt on the side with some grated cucumber on top of a sweet potato.

Storage instructions
The curry can be kept in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Or you can store in airtight containers in the freezer for up to 3 months. Its best to label the freezer bag and airtight container with the item and the date.
To defrost the curry, thaw in the fridge overnight, once fully defrosted, you can reheat the chicken curry.
To reheat the curry, preheat your oven to 180C/350F and reheat for up to 20-25 minutes. You can also re heat on the hob on a medium heat until piping hot.
Once thawed and reheated you will not be able to refreeze and store.
Equipment used to help with this recipe
Saucepan - So many pan sets out there but I particularly like to use pans with a non-stick surface for ease of cleaning and ones that are suitable for different types of hob surface.
Airtight container - I much prefer the click-shut lids on these containers compared to others. They are also dishwasher and freezer safe and BPA free, so very suitable for food use.

Ingredients
Makes 4 large portions and 8-10 small portions (great batch cooking recipe)
For the lamb marinade
600g diced lamb
4 1/2 tablespoons plain Greek yogurt
1 tablespoon tomato puree
1 teaspoon ginger paste
1 teaspoon garlic paste
1/2 teaspoon onion granules
1 teaspoon cumin
1/4 teaspoon turmeric
1 teaspoon coriander
1/2 lemon, juiced
A grind of black pepper
For the Lamb curry
1 onion, diced
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon ginger paste
1 teaspoon garlic paste
2 tins of plum tomatoes (400g)
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon turmeric
1 teaspoon coriander
1 teaspoon garam masala
Instructions
Start by preheating your oven to 160C or
In a large bowl add all the marinade ingredients, stir and cover and leave in the fridge for a minimum of 30 minutes or if you can overnight.
To make the curry, Add the lamb and marinade to a large saucepan, an oven proof saucepan would be good and seal the meat for 5 minutes or so, moving the meat around in the saucepan. Transfer the lamb and juices to plate or bowl and set aside.
In the same pan add the olive oil and onion. Cook the onions on a medium to low heat for 10 minutes or so until they are soft and starting to brown.
Add in the ginger and garlic and cook for a few minutes.
Add in the cumin, turmeric, coriander, garam masala and mix together cook for 1 minute.
Add in the tomatoes, and chop the plum tomatoes using scissors or a spoon.
Add the lamb and juices back into the saucepan and stir.
Cover with a lid or foil and pop into the oven for 2 hours. Stir halfway through.
You could add the curry to a slow cooker too if you prefer. 4 hours on low and 8 hours on high. Slow cooking meat is great for baby led weaning.
Recipe notes
You could switch up the meat in this recipe and use chicken or beef, the balti sauce will work well with different meat or you could use a mix of veggies such as sweet potatoes, green beans and chickpeas.
